I would like to give my hearty recommendation for Tracy Lorenz's My Daddy is a Pilot. The text and photo illustrations are clear and inviting. The intended audience appears to be preschooler through early elementary, although some adults would learn a thing or two about the job of being an airline pilot and the basic terminology used in the industry. I probably should mention that my father was an Air Force pilot and I only wish I had a book like this when I was a youngster. It would have given me a much better idea of what Dad was doing when he was at work. Again, I highly recommend this informative book for young children.

What a wonderful book to explain to children about aircraft. Many airplane books only point to the wing and don't show where the actual aileron is on the plane. This book provides an exceptional overview of the airplane, the mission and the role of the pilot! I can't wait to share it with more of our friends!

Roger D. Andersen holds an underbraduate degree in economics from Wheaton College and an MBA from Oregon State University. He has studied literature and history at Oxford University, and international economics at the University of Leiden in Holland. Mr. Andersen began his career with PepsiCo (1976-1989), then served as Vice President of Finance for Tonka/Kenner/Parker International (1989-1991), Chief Financial Officer for Rollerblade (1992-1996), and as Senior Vice President for Pepsi-Cola General Bottlers (1996-1998). Recently, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Young America Corp. (1998-2006), the largest consumer promotion services company in North America. Roger and his wife have two daughters.

A must - read for every Christian Executive!

Roger Andersen's powerful book should be a wake-up call for every executive who is working long hours and questioning why they have pursued a corporate career. In the current state of Corporate America executives feel burnt out and unappreciated in the workplace leaving them to feel uninspired. Mr. Anderson makes a persuasive, lucid argument for why a professional may be in an executive career and provides suggestions on how and where to channel "God's gifts and calling" in a positive direction.

Roger is a unique individual who has been extremely successful in business not only without sacrificing his spirituaity, but, in fact, growing and taking it to a new level - even developing it as a competitive advantage! A Remarkable Book

Roger Andersen has written a remarkable, scholarly, insightful, and much-needed book about the Christian executive in today's secular corporate world, a subject that churches have generally not addressed. While up to 70% of our waking hours can involve work, church life and the secular workplace are typically separate worlds for many people. Mr. Andersen examines such issues as biblical attitudes and principles toward work and everyday workplace issues; using one's God-given gifts and talents; perceived Christian strengths and weaknessses as they relate to succeeding as a corporate executive; integrity and ethics; motivating the team, capitalism and profitablity, layoffs, and wealth; servanthood and giving; and executive dangers and blessings. The book includes scriptural references, interesting quotes, and insider anecdotes from Mr. Andersen's various executive positions.

But this wonderful book is not just for Christian executives! I have worked for nearly 40 years, not in management but as a professional engineer in the secular workplace, and after reading the entire book, I found it to be very helpful and educational in my striving to be both a good Christian and competent professional. In fact, the book is appropriate for anyone in the secular workplace. The book would be perfect for a Christian discussion group, and a study guide is provided for that purpose. My background in this field was just a short article that I read in The Economist on May 2016 about Fintech. I was very disappointed to reveal that this book adds almost nothing new. Even worse: many chapters are written as if they are PR messages to promote their authors as consultants.

About the Author

Richard J. Rendleman, Jr. is Professor of Finance at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is considered one of the premier researchers in the field of option pricing. An MBA's guide to Options

This is a very well written book from an MBA's perspective. In other words, the emphasis is more on intuition rather than the underlying mathematics of option pricing. The book in fact starts with the Binomial Tree approach to option pricing - a method that is much more intuitive and powerful compared to Black-Scholes. The author walks you through certain arbitrage relationships before developing the binomial tree approach. Black-Scholes is introduced once you have obtained a thorough understanding of the binomial tree approach. There is a decent treatment of Forwards, Futures and Swaps and a very elegant proof for how CAPM weaves into option pricing. I strongly recommend the book to anyone starting out in option pricing. Once you have developed sufficient competence with trees and formulae, you can move to Hull's book which is much more technical but provides robust treatment of exotic options.
